For Immediate Release:                                                        Carolina Soccer Club Adjusting Core Mission

Carolina Soccer Club will be fundamentally changing the club’s structure and mission for the 2018/2019 season, and beyond.

Carolina Soccer Club will no longer offer their traditional Junior Programs
(Dino-Mites, Ginga, Rondo & Pre-Academy,) or Academy program. Instead, CSC will now focus on providing summer & winter soccer camps, specialized clinics, the creation of age-specific curriculums, small-group training, and a new, unique series of soccer tournaments.

In additional to re-inventing itself, Carolina Soccer Club will support their current partners, the Carolina Rapids, with their continued running of U11 and older competitive programs, in addition to the Rapids now taking responsibility for U10 and younger programs.

CSC Executive Director, Liam Shannon, stated:
“I am excited about changing the focus of Carolina Soccer Club to better serve the local area. CSC began with the philosophy of “quality and community,” and over the last three years that is exactly what we have promoted. CSC is not going anywhere: we are just re-organizing to better fulfill our promise of doing our heart-felt best for the soccer-playing children of the community. On one hand of course, it is very sad: it is the an end of an era where teams will no longer be wearing our badge. But, it is also an exciting time and a wonderful opportunity to re-organize, re-adjust, and re-brand. Ultimately everything we have ever done, and will ever do, is for one reason, and that is the betterment of this community. I believe this move does exactly that.”

Commenting on the Carolina Rapids increased programming in Cabarrus County, Liam said;
“Over the last year CSC’s partnership with the Rapids has been of incredible value to our players, parents, coaches and community. Extending our relationship and furthering the Rapids’ involvement in this area will strengthen all soccer programming. The Carolina Rapids are a big club with wonderful resources, but they are also an organization that fundamentally supports and values community. The Cabarrus branch of the Rapids is a small division, but it is a big family, and that is exactly the way we like it. The Rapids organization will now be able to provide Cabarrus and the Harrisburg and Concord communities with even greater assistance than before, and that is a wonderful thing.”

Liam will continue in his role as CSC Executive Director, and as the Carolina Rapids' Director of Coaching for Cabarrus County. Assisting Liam with the increased role of the Carolina Rapids in Cabarrus will be Colin Gibson, a 4-year veteran of the Rapids and current Rapids’ Recreation Coordinator. Colin is thoroughly versed in all aspects of the Rapids organization and as the Program Director for Cabarrus County he will provide vital assistance to the growing division.

Colin stated; “I am thrilled with the opportunity to assist Liam in continuing his excellent work in the county. I have long been an admirer of Liam’s fantastic work and it’s like a dream to now work so closely with him. He’s done such a wonderful job here, I can barely believe it. I promise to do my best to replicate and increase the immense foundation Liam has set.”

(Liam replied, “Thanks Colin, I really was not expecting that!”)
