Carolina Soccer Club is excited to announce that the book Sun Tzu Soccer: The Art of War in Soccer Language & Scenarios, written by CSC Executive Director Liam Shannon and released only last week, is already the subject of a feature by a leading Chinese newspaper.

Jonathan White of the South China Morning Post
(SCMP) interviewed Liam last week and published his article on Sun Tzu Soccer earlier today. The SCMP was founded nearly 120 years ago and is the leading English language newspaper based in Hong Kong.

This news follows hot on the trails of Sun Tzu Soccer, upon release, immediately ranking #1 on Amzon.com new releases in "Soccer Coaching," and #2 in "Soccer".

Liam commented:
"I am extremely grateful to Jonathan White for reaching out to me about Sun Tzu Soccer. His interest and enthusiasm were exactly what I dreamed of when I wrote the book. I really appreciate Jonathan writing the article, and the South China Morning Post for publishing it. Hopefully this is the first of many interviews and publications on Sun Tzu Soccer. Just as Jonathan had the vision to see my project as revolutionary in the history of soccer writing, I hope others will soon follow. You can argue with me, but you cannot argue with Sun Tzu!"

The Art of War's Cultural Influence

Business Insider named The Art of War as one of the top 25 most influential books ever written, and astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson identified The Art of War as one of the books "every intelligent person on the planet should read”.

The Art of War and Sun Tzu have been referenced and quoted in various movies, including Wall Street (1987), The Rock (1996) The Family Man (2000) Bandits (2001), and the James Bond movie “Die Another Day,” (2002).  In television, The Art of War is referenced in two of the most popular and most critically acclaimed shows of all time: The Sopranos and Breaking Bad.

The Art of War has also been famously applied in sports. NFL coach Bill Belichick, holder of the most Super Bowl wins in history, has stated on multiple occasions his admiration for The Art of War. Furthermore, Brazilian football coach Luiz Felipe Scolari
actively used The Art of War for Brazil’s successful 2002 World Cup campaign. During the tournament Scolari put passages of The Art of War underneath his players’ doors in the night.
